The Moat House Offer

Moat House offers bespoke, personalised packages to meet the needs and aspirations of each individual student.

When referred to Moat House, students will meet the Headteacher and a member of the Pastoral Team, to discuss their wants and goals, including the subjects they wish to study.

They will then complete an Induction Programme with the SENCo and maths teacher, to complete baseline assessments and look at preferred learning styles and any additional learning needs.

The student is then given a timetable bespoke to them. Subjects on offer include:

  • English (from Level 1 through to 9-1 GCSE)
  • Maths (from Level 1 through to 9-1 GCSE)
  • GCSE Biology
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Business Studies
  • Level 1/ Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care
  • GCSE Religious Studies
  • GCSE Physics
  • GCSE Statistics
  • Cookery
  • RSHE

Students are supported, wherever possible, to complete GCSEs they have started at their previous school.

Enrichment activities include wellbeing programmes, reading sessions, art, gardening, ceramics, and trips to theatres and other places of interest.

Students who are pregnant or are young parents are offered sessions in our nursery, covering a range of parenting topics.

One to one intervention sessions, such as reading programmes, are offered to those students who need and would benefit from them.

Students have daily access to our Mental Health Lead who can offer support, and liaise with health to signpost and refer to external services where needed.

Throughout the year students access Advice, Information and Guidance sessions onsite with our Transitions Lead worker, to look at next steps, including applications for college courses and apprenticeships, and for our young parents applying for nurseries and Care to Learn childcare funding.

Exam access arrangements, such as readers and extra time, are put in place for those eligible.

Students are supported through the examination period and after, with help in transition to college or other destinations.
